Hidden Lake Winery and Banquet Center was inspired by the beauty and solitude of the "Silent Forest". This wooded
haven has been acquired by our family over the past 10 years. After residing here and developing the property, we wish
to share this unique venue with our guests. Here is some of the story of our winery.
Long known to those in this part of Clinton County who hunt deer and search for wild mushrooms, Silent Forest lore
abounds. We have been told of a bootlegger still located back in these woods that dodged the "revenuers" in the early
1900's. Roaming Indian spirits have been said to be seen at night, and every evening is full of the sounds of nature made
by the frogs, crickets, owls, and distant coyotes. This "Silent Forest" continues to enchant and entertain guests at
Hidden Lake Winery.
During family trips to Napa, we enjoyed visiting wineries and had the opportunity to observe the California wine industry
from the inside out. We decided to take this experience as well as our love of wine back to the Midwest. We began to
make wine at Hidden Lake in 2004 and our winery opened to the public on June 1, 2005. Our goal is to offer a variety of
wines that will satisfy many different palates. We want our guests to enjoy a glass of wine in a tranquil setting with old
friends, or perhaps, with new ones. Many conversations have started after browsing our whimsical collection of wine
names and labels.
The Barrel Room Grill and Steakhouse is the latest addition to the Hidden Lake Winery experience. Joining the
picturesque Majestic Falls reception site, the elegant Champagne Hall, and the popular Silent Forest Retreat cabins, The
Barrel Room adds yet another touch to the mystical atmosphere that draws guests to this rustic paradise. Featuring
full-service fine dining, The Barrel Room's menu features a delightful array of lunch and dinner selections served with
views of lovely wooded surroundings.
Our Executive Chef strives for culinary perfection in his menu, including our signature crabcakes, fresh baked breads,
and of course the highest-quality steaks served with our amazing house-made herbed butter. Other unique menu
choices include the Frenched Pork Chop, Gulfside Crabcakes and Jamaican Jerk Shrimp. In addition to Hidden Lake
Wines, the Barrel Room Grill and Steakhouse will feature California wines to complement the delicious entrees.
By the way, our Sunday Brunch offers many breakfast and luncheon items, tempting desserts, and an omelet and
Belgian waffle station.
We wish to thank all of those who have helped us in the development of Hidden Lake Winery and Banquet Center, Silent
Forest Retreat Cabins, and the newly added Barrel Room Grill and Steakhouse. Special thanks to our wonderful staff for
